Hockey Tournament report for 23/03/2025 - Bethan and John

On Sunday 23rd March the mini's took part in their final tournament of the season, hosted by Old Loughts. Two teams were presented by Havering, an Under 10's mixed side, and an under 8 girls.

Going first was our under 10 side, comprised of 9 players, with a tournament first for one of our girls. Everyone was excited to get underway, starting with a draw against Old Loughts. The next two games saw a victory for our team, meaning spirits were high for their last match against Upminster. It was a close fought game, but ultimately our U10's were beaten in a 0-2 loss. Their smiles remained on their faces as they were presented with their medals for the tournament from the Essex league, to say well done for this seasons efforts.

The under 8 girls went next. Our team of 6 girls played extremely well throughout all 4 games giving their all. It was a first debut for 3 girls and they showed great confidence and performance.

Their first game was against Old Loughts A, followed by Crostyx, then Old Loughts B and ending on an 'edge of seat' thriller against Old Southendians where they played a fighting battle one side of the pitch to the other, putting in strong tackles and runs with the ball.

All came away with smiles on their faces and with well deserved medals.
A big congratulations for their performances

One of our under 12 girls, a new starter, volunteered to play for Thurrock in their tournament. It's amazing that our players are happy to help everyone out for the benefit of the hockey community.

The day was a great success, and the Mini's coaches are proud of how much they have all improved this season and are looking forward to the next. Congratulations all!
